Hey, I’m Dallas, and I am the creative crazy person behind Sparx Goods & Carry.  If you follow us on social media, you have probably heard me say that before, haha.  Telling the story of how Sparx Goods & Carry came to be is both a complex and simple one that started over 20 years ago, let's get into it.

I have always been a creative and restless person.  I am not good at sitting around and my brain rarely takes time to shut off.  At a young age, I always wanted to do things and create.  Whether it was rearranging my room, painting my bedroom walls (sorry mom), taking pictures, playing sports, being in the ocean, or just whipping around coastal Virginia and North Carolina, I was doing it all.  I didn't have a lot of down time, and when I did, I always felt restless.  That led me to be overly active in a lot of my interests and hobbies.  

I've gained a lot of inspiration from where I grew up.  Growing up in southeastern Virginia (the 757) and spending a lot of time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina I learned so much about art and creative endeavor.  I was fortunate to have friends and family who enjoyed creating things and going on adventures regularly.  The 757 also has a ton of pride in the artists and art that comes from there.  In my early 20s, I lived in the arts district of Virginia Beach and was inspired constantly by all the different types of art that surrounded me.  I realised that I could be more than one thing and that it was okay to put my creation out into the world.

While I was younger photography was one of my major outlets, and it still is today.  As I bridged the gap of photography being an outlet, but also work, I found myself needing a new outlet for my mind.  Over time I picked up various arts and handiwork which evolved into what you see here today, Sparx!  Some came from solving an issue I had, like leatherwork, and others came from old things I learned throughout my youth, like making spoon rings.  

My wife, Megan, and I eventually moved from the arts district of Virginia Beach to Oahu to be close to family.  After the Covid-19 Pandemic, I finally decided that I was ready to put my creations out into the world.  But, I wasn't super confident yet.  I was experiencing a lot of imposter syndrome.  So I sold some of my work alongside my photography, which I felt much more confident about.  We called it “made in the Sunshine” and that was our brand for a little over 2 years. 

Finally, during our holiday season of pop up markets in 2025, I felt the nudge to make our brand individual in an effort to feel more authentic.  Sparx Goods & Carry officially launched under its new namesake in January of 2026 and has been growing as its own brand since.  I am so beyond excited to see where this adventure continues to take us.

Sparx Goods & Carry is based out of Makaha on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.  At Sparx, every item is touched and worked on by myself and the team.  I make these things because I genuinely enjoy making them.  Whether you see us at one of our various pop ups around Oahu or here on our website we are so happy you're here.  I hope we can make some magic together!
